[:ja]食品の表示ルールを定める法律には、「食品衛生法」、「JAS法」、「健康増進法」の3つがあったが、それぞれに目的が異なるため、複雑で分かりにものとなっていた。
これを、消費者・事業者の双方にとって分かりやすい表示ルールにするために、平成27年4月1日から、3つの法律を統合した「食品表示法」の制度がスタートした。
これにより定められた、生鮮食品（一般用）の旧基準の表示が認められる期間（平成28年9月30日まで）が終了する。
なお、加工食品については、平成32年3月31日まで旧基準の表示が認められる。

私は化粧品メーカーに勤めていたからか、化粧品を購入するときは、必ず、裏面の表示を見る。表のデザインやパッケージは広告の一部だから、中身を知るには、裏面の表示を見るのが一番。
自分の肌に合わない成分とか、原産国とか、そういうところは必ずチェックする。
最近は、原産国が一番気になる。見た目が小洒落て、聞いたことのないメーカーのモノは、往々にしてmade in Chinaが多い。最近は、コストの関係か、大手外資系化粧品会社もmade in China製が増えている。
化粧品はMade in Japanでなくてはね、が私の持論。
そして、食品も必ず食品表示を確認する。
食材にうるさい母に食品表示を確認するのかと訊ねてみた。
私：食品表示って、確認する？
母：内容はよくわからないけれど、原材料がたくさん書いてあるのは買わないようにしている。
私：なるほどね。私もそうする。
母：最近は、「ナテ」っていうのが、よく入っているみたいね。ほとんどのモノに書いてあるわ。
私：ナテ？？（おもむろに手近にあったモノの表示を見てみる）
私：ひょっとして、コレのこと？
母：そうそう。それ。
私：これ、「プラ」って書いてあるねん。ゴミの分別のために。
母：ヘェ〜。だって、見えないもの。
庶民の感覚はこの程度だよ、とお役人に教えてあげたいわ。
「消費者にわかりやすく」と言いつつ、読めないほど小さな文字で書いて、意味あんのかしらねぇ〜。
それにしても、化粧品も食品も、文字サイズが小さく、視力が悪くない人でも、裸眼で読めないほどのものもある。老眼だとなおさら。わざわざメガネをかけて確認する人など、どれくらいいるだろ？
さて、食品表示は、アレルギーのある人や子供のいる女性は、原材料やアレルゲンを確認する人は多いと思うが、みんな、見て買っているんだろうか？
私の周りの男性に聞いたところ、ほとんど見ていないようだった。
私は、アレルギーはないけれど、増粘剤とか、粘着剤とか、いわゆる添加物がやたらと入っているものは買わない。いろいろ見比べて、添加物が最小限のものを買いたいと思っているが、そうすると、買い物にとても時間がかかる。細かいことを言い出すと、何も買えなくなる・・・。
あとは、カロリーかな？
ずいぶん前だが、メロンパンのカロリーの高さには驚愕した。それ以降、メロンパンは好きだけど、食べられなくなった。
そして、賞味期限と消費期限。
食品は、基本的に、近日中に必ず使うものしか買わない主義なので、消費期限切れや賞味期限切れになることは比較的少ない方だと思うが、それでも、一度使ったきり、冷蔵庫に放置した調味料などは、気づくと、期限切れで廃棄することに。最近は酸化防止ボトル入りのお醤油もあるが、以前は、開栓後に酸化して味が変わったものは、よく廃棄していた。廃棄がもったいないということもあるが、中身を捨てる時の水質汚染も気になる。
できるだけ小容量を買って、廃棄をなくしたいと思うが、大容量が特売になって、小容量よりも価格自体が安くなっていることがある。
小容量が割高なのは仕方ないとしても、価格が逆転していると、そりゃ、安い方を買うのが人情ってもんでしょ。
こういう時は、仕方なく大容量を買い、酸化して味が変わったり、期限が過ぎて、廃棄。こういう食品ロスは、本当に問題だと思う。

- 食品が一定の品質を有していると認められる期限を示す日付（月単位の表示も含む）。
- 「消費期限」と「賞味期限」の２つがあり、生鮮食品から加工食品まで、食品の特性に応じて、「消費期限」と「賞味期限」いずれかの表示がされる。
