子供の頃、夏休みに入ってすぐの日曜日は、自宅の大掃除が恒例行事だった。
掃除嫌いの母と、綺麗好きの父。
父の担当は、畳の虫干しや押入れにしまってある大きな荷物の処分。
始める前は「邪魔くさい」というのが本音だが、家族総出の大掃除はそれなりに思い出に残る夏のイベントでもあった。虫干ししたり、張り替えた新しい畳は、本当に、気持ちいい。
普段は押入れにしまわれている衣装ケースを開いたり、片づけをしていると、お気に入りだった洋服が出てくることも。サイズが小さくて着られなくなった洋服も、子供ながらに思い出深くて捨てられないものもある。
家のスペースの都合が一番の理由だが、母は年齢の割には「潔く処分する派」なので、半年に一度の大掃除では大量のゴミが出る。当時は、分別もなく、何でも捨てられた時代だったから。
子供の頃からの習慣で、夏と冬の大掃除は、やらないと気分が落ち着かないと感じていたが、ここ数年は、それほど本格的な大掃除はしなくなったなぁ〜。
年々、モノを減らして「片付け」や「掃除」が普段からしやすくなったこともあるが、何より、夏が暑すぎて・・・。それでも、「大掃除」をすると、家中、さっぱりと気持ちがいい。
